Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris Is San Francisco Magazine's Cover Star for October Most Influential Issue Logo

Harris is one of San Francisco magazine’s 25 Most Influential local and national heroes featured in the October Issue

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 - Today the editors of San Francisco magazine, part of Modern Luxury Media, the nation's largest luxury media company, are debuting their October Most Influential and Men’s Fashion Issue with Kamala Harris on the magazine’s cover.

At Modern Luxury, we make it our mission to showcase aspirational and inspirational stories of change and progress to our communities from coast to coast. That’s why Modern Luxury has carefully constructed its Most Influential List. These 25 luminaries are leading change in their communities on both a national and local level. From arts and education advocates, to innovators finding solutions to current challenges, these formidable drivers of change are pushing their communities forward for good.

"We are fortunate to have many inspirational business and community leaders in San Francisco and the Bay Area," said Walter Kupiec, Market President and Publisher. "Our October issue of San Francisco features some of the most exceptional leaders in our community who have given of themselves during these challenging times."

A Bay Area native, Senator Kamala Harris is one of the 25 honorees on San Francisco magazine’s Most Influential list for the October Issue. Most may remember Harris’ big debate moment came when she called Joe Biden out for his past opposition of busing and described her own childhood of busing as part of an effort to integrate public schools in California.

Today, Harris is the first Black woman to be a major party’s vice presidential nominee in history and is the Democratic vice presidential nominee for the 2020 election. As she prepares for her October 8th Vice Presidential debate, we reflect on her DNC speech which still resonates in this moment as it did then, “Years from now, this moment will have passed. And our children and our grandchildren will look in our eyes and ask us: ‘Where were you when the stakes were so high?’ They will ask us, ‘What was it like?’ And we'll tell them. We will tell them not just how we felt. We will tell them what we did.”

In this issue, readers will be able to dig into the 25 Most Influential People which includes household names like San Francisco mayor London Breed and Steph and Ayesha Curry. The issue includes an exclusive fashion feature, “The Big Chill” which encapsulates the best of men’s fall and winter fashion this season with styles and designs from Dior, Fendi, Coach, Zegna, Gucci, Paul Smith, Todd Snyder, Hermes. The issue also explores the most luxurious ways that people can escape their homes and travel safely this winter during COVID, including a feature on luxury jet travel as well as, how a hotel in Los Cabos is upping its game to compete with other high-end resorts in the area.

"The October issue of San Francisco magazine focuses on the incredible people making a difference in the city and beyond," says editor-in-chief Laura Eckstein Jones. "From VP nominee Kamala Harris to How I Built This host Guy Raz, the profiled subjects have exciting and inspirational stories to tell."

The October issue is available now to subscribers and digitally.
