ROLE OVERVIEW

As we expand our reach and influence, we are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Managing Editor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the voice and vision of our magazine. The Managing Editor will work in conjunction with the VP of Editorial, Editor-in-Chief and Sales Coordinator to manage editorial workflow for Modern Luxury’s JEZEBEL, The Atlantan, Interiors Atlanta, Weddings Atlanta, and Charity & Social Datebook Atlanta. The Managing Editor must leverage their creativity in original writing for both print and online and have a keen eye and style to proof pages, websites, e-newsletters and other products in a timely fashion. This position will be responsible for ensuring the content management system is up-to-date and optimized. In addition, the managing editor will oversee the internship program for their market by hiring and advising multiple students each semester. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is adept at juggling multiple projects and deadlines. The ideal candidate is a mature professional with a deep understanding of the luxury market and a keen eye for detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Editor-in-Chief in managing editorial schedules and deadlines for multiple publications.
  • Oversee project management and ensure timely delivery of content.
  • Coordinate with writers, designers, and other team members to maintain high editorial standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contributors, advertisers, and industry professionals.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of editorial content, ensuring it aligns with the magazine's vision and standards.
  • Manage day-to-day editorial operations, including proofreading, fact-checking, and copyediting.
  • Support the Editor-in-Chief with administrative tasks and special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Fluent in CMS, as well as web optimization
  • 1-2 years of experience in an applicable field
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with a willingness to take initiative.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a knack for multitasking and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
