The latest issue from DC Magazine highlights the innovators who are shaking things up from coast to coast; Issue also uncovers innovative ways readers can create new adventures for themselves as the weather heats up.
WASHINGTON D.C - MARCH 31, 2021 - Today the editors of DC Magazine, part of Modern Luxury Media, the nation's largest luxury media company, are pleased to debut The Next Wave Issue for April.
As the warmer months approach and the pandemic begins to subside, many are predicting another roaring ‘20s to descend in many highly populated cities. To mark this next chapter, DC Magazine will unveil its annual “Next Wave Issue,” featuring the influencers and tastemakers who are shaping their industries in the Washington region. These are thought leaders whose innovative work is seen in areas like real estate, wellness, beauty, design, hospitality, dining, arts and culture, and residential and commercial development.
DC Magazine’s cover star this month has become a household name as her broadcast coverage has shaped the way we discuss and understand Capitol Hill and the issues that shape our world. DC native Abby Phillip is a superstar and political insider on CNN and is the mind and voice of a new generation of political pundits. A perfect subject for this month’s Next Wave Issue, DC Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Michael McCarthy, had a chance to interview Phillip about her experience reporting during last fall’s election and how she plans to continue to evolve as a journalist during the ever-changing political climate.
In addition to highlighting Phillip, editors put together a 14-page feature called “Tidal Shift” that focuses on those in our community who haven’t slowed down during the past 12 months; instead, they’ve remained committed to a singular vision of success and to making our region a better place to live and work. This includes Ashley Spillane, founder and president of Impactual, a firm that helps brands, philanthropists and nonprofits create campaigns or initiatives that drive social change.
“Nearly everything in the past year has been defined by waiting. Hope even had to stand in line,” said Michael McCarthy, editor-in-chief at DC Magazine. “Still, we soldiered on. We figured out how to live while we waited for the world to change. And because I’m forever the optimist, I look around and see what we’ve gained amid the devastating losses. I hope this issue provides that same sort of optimism and inspiration to others as we all turn the page for a brighter and innovative spring.”
